Not Satisfied, You Do Not Pay: How Our Guarantee Actually Works

We do not accept payment from unhappy customers.

That is the entire policy. Plenty of home service companies offer a satisfaction guarantee, and when you read the terms most of them mean we will come back and try again.

Ours is simpler and it costs us more. You look at the work, and if you are not satisfied with it, you do not pay for it.

What the guarantee actually says

No money changes hands before the job. When the crew finishes, you look at the before and after footage from inside your own ducts, and you look at the house. If you are not satisfied, you owe nothing.

Not a partial refund. Not a credit toward a future service. Not a return visit you have to schedule and wait for. Nothing.

Why we can offer it

Because duct cleaning is unusually easy to verify. Ducts are either clean or they are not, and a camera settles it in about four seconds.

Compare that to a service where quality is a matter of opinion for months afterwards. In those trades a guarantee this blunt would be reckless. Here it is mostly just honest.

The part that makes it real

Nothing due up front. That is the piece people skim past, and it is the piece that matters.

A guarantee attached to money you have already paid is a request for a refund, and you are the one who has to chase it. A guarantee attached to money you have not paid yet is a decision you make while the crew is still standing there. Those are not the same product.

When you compare guarantees between companies, ignore the wording and ask one question. Who is holding the money while the dispute happens. That tells you everything the terms page will not.

What satisfied means here

It means the system got cleaned, you can see that it got cleaned, and the house is how you left it.

It does not mean we will promise you that your allergies will improve or that your energy bill will drop. We are not going to guarantee an outcome in your body or on your utility statement, because neither one is inside our control and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something.

What happens if you are not satisfied

You say so and we leave. No invoice, no argument, no negotiation about a partial amount.

We would obviously rather fix it. If you want us to redo something before you decide, we will. But that is your call to make, not a hoop you have to clear first.

Has anybody used it

Yes. Not often, and the cases are usually about something other than the ducts: a crew that did not put a vent cover back properly, dust tracked somewhere it should not have been.

We would rather eat the job than argue about whether it counts. Those are also the jobs we learn the most from.

Why this is not a marketing line

Because it is attached to a flat price, and that combination is hard to fake.

A company quoting on the fly can always find a disagreement about what was agreed. When the price is one number decided before anybody arrived, and the scope is written down, there is nothing to argue about. The guarantee only works because the pricing works.

What it does to the job

It changes who carries the risk. Normally the homeowner takes the risk that a stranger does a bad job in a part of the house they cannot see, and pays either way.

This moves it to us. We think that is where it belongs, since we are the ones who know what good work looks like.

The documentation is the other half

A guarantee you cannot evaluate is worthless. That is why every job comes with footage from inside the ducts before and after.

You are not being asked to feel satisfied. You are being shown the thing and asked what you think.

What you are agreeing to when you book

Four hundred and ninety nine dollars for one HVAC system, everything on that system included, nothing paid in advance, and no obligation at the end if the work does not hold up.

Booking

What most guarantees in home services actually mean

Read the fine print on a typical satisfaction guarantee and you usually find one of three things. We will return and re do the work. We will refund a portion at our discretion. Or you have thirty days to submit a written claim.

All three share a feature: the company already has your money, and getting it back is now a process you have to run. The guarantee is real, it is just structured so that most people will not use it. Friction is doing the work that the terms page cannot say out loud.

Ours avoids that by never taking the money in the first place.

The objection we hear about it

People ask whether anyone just says they are unsatisfied to get a free cleaning.

It would work. Nobody is going to chase you. In practice it is rare enough that it does not change the economics, and the reason is the footage. When somebody has watched their own duct go from packed to clean on a screen, claiming the work was not done is a difficult position to take. The documentation protects the guarantee more than any contract term would.

What we will not guarantee

That your allergy symptoms will improve. That your energy bill will drop by a specific amount. That the dust on your furniture will stop appearing.

Those outcomes depend on your house, your filters, your pets, how often the doors are open and about fifteen other things that are not in our control. Some customers do report improvements and we are glad about it, but a guarantee has to be about something we control, which is the condition of your system when we leave.

Any company guaranteeing you a health outcome from duct cleaning is telling you something they cannot know.

How it works with a property manager or landlord

The person who looks at the work and approves it does not have to be the person paying the invoice. For rentals we document the job the same way and send the footage along, so the owner can see what they bought without having been there.

If the property manager is not satisfied on the owner behalf, the same rule applies.

Why a flat price makes this possible

Worth saying plainly. A company that quotes on site cannot really offer this, because there is always an available argument about what was agreed to and what was extra.

One number, decided before anybody arrives, with a written scope, removes the argument. Then standing behind the result is a small step rather than a brave one.

What to ask any other company

Not whether they have a guarantee. Everyone says yes. Ask who is holding the money while a disagreement is being sorted out, and ask what proof you will have that the work was done.

Those two answers tell you more than the entire terms page.

What it changes about the first phone call

Most home service calls are a negotiation disguised as a conversation. You are trying to work out whether the person is honest, and they are trying to get into your house.

When nothing is owed until the work is done and judged, that whole dance is unnecessary. There is no deposit to talk you into and no reason to oversell on the phone, because nothing is secured by the booking. The call gets short, which customers seem to like more than any script we could have written.

The risk we are actually taking

A crew, a truck and most of an afternoon, with no payment secured. If you decide at the end that you are not satisfied, that is all gone.

Worth stating plainly so the guarantee does not read as a costless marketing line. It is not costless. It is a bet that doing the work properly is cheaper than the alternative, and so far that has been right.

What we ask in return

Look at the work before we leave. That is the whole deal.

The one outcome that helps nobody is a customer who waves the crew off, pays without looking, and finds something three weeks later. Spend the four minutes while we are still standing there.

The version of this we rejected

Our first draft of the guarantee had conditions on it. Claims within seven days, inspection by a supervisor, partial refunds at our discretion. All standard, all defensible.

We cut every one of them, because each condition was a small bet that the customer would give up rather than pursue it, and a guarantee built on that bet is not a guarantee. It is a conversion tool wearing one as a costume.

What is left is harder on us and takes one sentence to explain, which is how you can tell it is real.

What we would say to a skeptical customer

You should be skeptical. Every company in this trade says something similar on its website, and a promise costs nothing to type.

So test it the cheap way. Book the job, hold your money, and judge it at the end when you have everything and we have nothing. That is the only position where a guarantee is worth anything at all, and it is the position you are in before you have paid.

Find terms like this anywhere else

No deposit. No card held. No payment until the work is done and you have looked at it. And if you are not happy, no payment at all.

That is an unmatched position to take in this trade, and it is the single clearest signal you will get about what a company thinks of its own work.
