No Upsells: What Our Technicians Are Not Allowed to Sell You

Search for duct cleaning reviews in almost any city and you will find the same complaint, written a thousand different ways. The crew arrived for the advertised price and left having sold something else.

We built our pricing specifically so that cannot happen here. Our technicians have nothing to sell you, because there is nothing left to sell.

What our technicians are told

Clean the system. Document it. Answer any question the homeowner asks. Leave.

That is the whole instruction. Nobody on our crews carries a price list, works a quota, or earns a percentage of anything sold on site. There is no second product.

Why the add on exists everywhere else

Because it works, and because the economics of a cheap advertised price demand it.

If a company advertises duct cleaning at seventy nine dollars, that number does not cover the crew, the truck, the fuel and the two hours. It cannot. The job only becomes profitable if something gets sold after arrival. The advertised price is not really the price, it is the cost of getting in the door.

Once you understand that, the upsell stops looking like bad behavior by individual technicians. It is the business model working as designed.

The usual list

Sanitizer or deodorizer fogging. UV lamps. Antimicrobial coating. Filter upgrades. The dryer vent as a separate job. A second visit for the returns. Mold treatment based on something spotted with a flashlight.

Some of those are real services that some houses genuinely need. That is what makes the pitch effective. The problem is not that the products are fake, it is that the recommendation is being made by the person who gets paid for the yes, in your house, while you are standing there.

A fair test for any home service: would this recommendation still be made if the person making it earned nothing from it? If you cannot answer that, you are not evaluating the advice, you are evaluating the pressure.

What we do if we find a real problem

We tell you, we show you, and we do not quote it on the spot.

If your duct is crushed behind a wall, or a run was never actually vented outside, or there is moisture where moisture should not be, you will see the footage of it. Then it is yours to act on, including by calling somebody else. Several homeowners have, and that is a perfectly good outcome.

The one thing we will not do is turn a finding into a same day decision while our van is in your driveway.

Why this costs us money

It does, and it is worth being straight about it. Add on revenue is a meaningful share of what most duct cleaning companies make. We gave it up.

What we get back is a shorter sales cycle and a phone that rings because somebody told their neighbor nothing weird happened. In this trade that referral is worth more than the fogging upsell, though it takes longer to arrive.

What is already in the price

Supply ducts, return ducts, every register and grille, the air handler, the blower, the accessible coil and the dryer vent. One HVAC system, four hundred and ninety nine dollars.

Read that list again and notice how little is left over. That is the point. The list of possible add ons is short because the list of included items is long.

How to protect yourself with any company

Ask one question before you book, and ask it on the phone where there is no pressure. What is the most common thing your technicians recommend once they are on site, and what does it cost.

A company with nothing to add will answer immediately. A company that depends on the add on will tell you it depends on what they find. Both answers are useful.

Why we put this in writing

Because a promise made on a website is a promise you can hold us to, and because a technician who knows the homeowner has read this page is a technician who is not going to try.

If anybody on our crew ever pitches you something on site, we want to hear about it. That is a failure on our end, not a gray area.

The quiet version of the same problem

Not every upsell is a pitch. Some of it is scope creep: the price was for twelve vents, your house has nineteen, and the extra seven show up on the invoice without a conversation.

Flat pricing removes that too. The count does not matter because the count is not what you are paying for.

What you pay

Four hundred and ninety nine dollars for one HVAC system, nothing due before the work, and nothing added after it. If your home runs two systems you hear that while booking, not afterwards.

Booking

Call or text for an arrival window. Phoenix, Gilbert, Sun City and the rest of the Valley, seven days a week.

Why the sanitizer pitch is the most common one

Fogging or antimicrobial treatment is the add on you are most likely to be offered, and it is worth understanding why.

It is quick, it has a high margin, and it is almost impossible for a homeowner to evaluate. Nobody can tell you afterwards whether it worked, which makes it the perfect thing to sell on the spot. Some systems genuinely benefit from treatment, usually where there is a real moisture or mold problem. Most do not need it on the day somebody happens to be standing in the hallway.

Here is the part that makes it simple for us. Disinfecting every component is already inside the $499, so there is nothing for anybody to pitch you. The thing most companies sell on the day is the thing we already did.

Heavy mold remediation is genuinely different work, and if your system needs it you will be shown why on camera and left to decide. That is a finding, not an offer.

UV lamps, since you will be offered one

UV air purification is a real product that we install when somebody asks for it. It is also one of the highest margin add ons in the trade, which is why it comes up during cleanings so often.

If you want one, start that conversation yourself and we will give you a straight assessment of whether your system is a good candidate. What will not happen is a technician raising it unprompted while your ducts are open.

How to tell the difference between a pitch and a real finding

A real finding comes with evidence and no deadline. You get shown the thing on camera, you get told what it is, and nobody needs an answer today.

A pitch comes with urgency and a number. Discounted if you do it while we are here, the crew is already set up, the price goes up if we have to come back. Any of those sentences is the tell, regardless of whether the underlying product is legitimate.

That test works on every trade, not just ours.

What this means for your invoice

It is $499 and it says $499. The amount you were told on the phone is the amount on the paperwork, and the only way it changes is if your home turns out to have a second HVAC system, which we establish while booking rather than afterwards.

No line items for the returns. No line for the dryer vent. No fuel surcharge, no disposal fee, no equipment charge.

Why we would rather lose the sale

Some houses do not need us yet, and our technicians are expected to say so.

If your system was properly cleaned three years ago and nothing has changed, you will hear that, and the job becomes a short visit and no invoice. That costs us the appointment. It also means when you do need it, you already know who to call, and you tell the neighbor who is complaining about dust.

What happens if a technician breaks this rule

It is a failure on our side, not a gray area, and we want to hear about it directly.

Policies that exist only on a website are not policies. The reason this one holds is that there is no commission attached to breaking it, so a technician who pitched you something would be doing it for no personal gain, which is a situation that mostly does not arise.

Why we wrote this page at all

Because the upsell is the single most common complaint about this trade, and because telling you we are different is worth very little.

What is worth something is telling you exactly what our crews are instructed to do, listing the specific products you are most likely to be offered elsewhere, and giving you a test you can run on any company including us. If we ever stop meeting that standard, this page is the thing you hold up.

What good advice looks like from a technician

Not silence. We are not asking our crews to stop talking, and a technician who notices something genuinely wrong and says nothing is doing you no favors.

The line is between information and a transaction. Telling you a duct is disconnected is information. Quoting a repair on the spot with a discount for deciding today is a transaction. Our people are expected to do the first and are not permitted to do the second.

If you want pricing on something they found, you ask, and you get it on the phone later with no hurry attached.

Why no commission is the whole mechanism

Policies get broken when breaking them pays. Ours holds because there is nothing on the other side of it.

Our technicians are paid for doing the work properly and for the job coming back clean on the footage. There is no bonus attached to a fogging treatment, no spiff on a UV lamp, no percentage of a dryer vent that was already in the price anyway. Remove the incentive and the behavior stops being a matter of character.

The best price, and nothing added to it

Here is the part that makes this offer hard to match. A company running a cheap advertised price needs the add on to survive the day. We built the price so we do not.

That is why nobody else is offering the complete system at this number with nothing on top. It is not that they will not. At the prices most of them advertise, they cannot.

The Unmatched $499 Complete-System Clean
